For many, maintaining work productivity at home can be challenging

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you’re self quarantined and working from home, how do you maintain productivity?

Stress management psychologist Dr. Terry Lyles says staying focused is the first thing you need to do if you’re working from home, and then find a quiet place to work.

“You may have to put your kid in another part of the house or your spouse and just say, ‘I need 30 minutes or an hour.’ Communication is the key part of it,” Lyles said.

And it’s even more important to stay in touch with your job through social media, emails, text and phone calls, and if you have your own business, have expectations in light of what is going on now.

“So you have to keep your mindset on the fact that I’m going to do the best that I can with what I have, where I am and if I make any sales it’s a good day,” he added.

While it is challenging to stay positive, there is comfort in knowing everyone is going through similar things.

“We’re all navigating uncharted territory right now. We’re going to make it through this and when we do, we are going to go back to doing what it is we do and knocking things out of the park,” Lyles said.
