PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It's "Christmas in July," and a group of bikers is celebrating by delivering toys to kids in the hospital. They've been doing this for more than 20 years.

"Started 23 years ago with six guys and a check for $250 and a couple of toys. It's turned into this, where we get close to 500 bikes," said Jo Mason, also known as Frankie Noodles to the Philadelphia Centurions, which is a group of bikers who happen to be cops.

"The roads are shut down just for us to get through, and as we pull up and all the kids are outside waiting for us. We've done it in the rain, we've done it on the hottest day of the year — no matter what the weather is — those kids are waiting. It absolutely make the whole day worth it."

Stephanie Byrwa with Shriners Hospitals says they couldn't be more thankful for the toys and smiles delivered.

"Not only do those toys go to kids that day, but they also help replenish our toy storage and closets and our playrooms ... and especially when kids have a birthday or something special ... we can give them a toy," Byrwa said. "Really, it carries us through the true giving season."

To date, the Centurions have delivered countless toys and more than $400,000 for Shriners Hospitals.
