Half of the 30 dogs already rescued by the agency now have forever homes.
"We had a lot of people come in specifically to help the dogs from Puerto Rico. They either had a connection to PR or just wanted to be able to help. We also had people just come in general to bring donations, supplies to help us," she said.
The rescue and its partners were able to save 110 dogs last week.
"A lot of those animals in the shelters were at risk of being euthanized," Torelli said.
She says their efforts aren't slowing down anytime soon.
"It's also a big help to come in and adopt a local dog," she said. "We're going to be taking another flight from Puerto Rico on Feb. 9."
Torelli said she expects another 30 dogs or so to be available from Puerto Rico after their February rescue trip.
