Joseph's House in Camden gives homeless individuals the chance at a fresh start

CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — It was a jump start of sorts recently for homeless individuals in South Jersey to turn their lives around.

Joseph's House of Camden offers food and shelter to the homeless in that area.

"We provide the very basics for people that are homeless," said executive director Shawn Sheekey, who wanted to do more by hosting a resource fair recently.

"We bring in providers. Everything from a women's shelter for abused women, we have the Camden County Department of Health, we have an addiction treatment center, you name it. We just try to bring as many support services in," he said.

Robert Williams, who found a job through Joseph's House, is one of the people who got to take advantage of those services.

"It's a great thing for people in the community such as myself, as a homeless person to find out different things in the area available to us," Williams said.

Williams had a chance to talk to people about housing and work opportunities, as well as social work and medical issues.
