At the busy intersection at Third and Market streets, there are signs saying that businesses are open. At times, you see cars going in both directions on the one-way street.
If you head one block north to Third and Arch streets, you'll find that it's blocked. That's where a water main broke on Jan. 7.
E-mails and hand-delivered letters on the progress of the repairs are on their way to residents and businesses owners.
"My God, now you are telling me the end of March. I don't know what I am going to do," said Jay Lodaya, who owns a souvenir shop on the block.
Businesses in the area have been fairly quiet, he adds.
"It's never just a quick immediate thing," said department spokesman John DiGiulio.
He says the road will need to be closed for an additional week or two than originally planned for.
"We approximated this would be eight weeks. It's most likely going to be nine or 10," he added.
