
“There is such a good energy and a good vibe. Everyone’s happy and excited to help someone else, and it’s very refreshing in our world to see that,” said senior Megan Leonard, who participated in the sale. The proceeds go toward families in the community who are experiencing a medical or financial crisis.
“If everyone helps, it makes a huge difference, so why wouldn't I help and give a fraction of my time to help someone’s overall life?” she said.
Superintendent Joe Bollendorf said this is an out-of-the-classroom lesson that helps their students as well as the families they are raising money for.
“To try to create in the minds of our children that live in our community that go to our schools a sense of understanding of how important it is in a community to support one another,” he added.
Bollendorf said they sold upward of 9,000 hoagies ahead of parties for the big game.
