This weekend, trick-or-treat at the Philly Zoo, bring your four-legged friend to a spooky parade in Northern Liberties, or learn about Día de los Muertos at the Penn Museum. There are plenty of fun things to do this weekend in and around Philly.

DETAILS: Come for the trick-or-treating. Stay for the zoo animals. Philadelphia Zoo’s annual Halloween event is back with costumes, festive fall offerings, activities for kids and more.

Hound-O-Ween

WHERE: 700 Block of Second Street in Northern Liberties

DETAILS: The eighth annual Hound-O-Ween Fall Festival and Pet Costume Contest is back, and you’re invited. Pets will strut their stuff for the chance to win a $500 grand prize. There will also be vendors, music and raffle prizes.

Día de los Muertos

EVENT: Día de los Muertos

DATE/TIME: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Penn Museum, 3260 South St., Philadelphia

DETAILS: Celebrate and learn about Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead ,with special programming at Penn Museum. There will be a traditional ofrenda (alter), musical presentations and a community alter contest.

Philadelphia Film Festival

EVENT: Philadelphia Film Festival

DATE: Through Sunday

WHERE: Multiple locations in Philadelphia

DETAILS: For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the Philadelphia Film Festival is back at full capacity with more events, more special guests and more than 130 films. Catch the tail end of the festival and the selection of films you can see for free.

Light: Installations by Bruce Munro

EVENT: Light: Installations by Bruce Munro

DATE: On view evenings through Sunday

WHERE: Longwood Gardens, 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square

DETAILS: Beginning at dusk, eight installations by Bruce Munro will light up Longwood Gardens for your viewing pleasure. The Field of Light has 18,000 illuminated bulbs and there will also be an Illuminated Fountain performance.
