PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two men face murder charges in the Tuesday shooting death of a 31-year-old woman in South Philadelphia.
Authorities say 32-year-old Carey Jones, 35-year-old Sherman Carney, and a third man who has not been identified, attacked a man and woman as they walked along the 2300 block of South Marshall Street shortly before 7 p.m.
Police say Jones grabbed the woman while Carney pointed a gun at the male companion. The third man served as a lookout.
Authorities say Jones fired multiple times, striking and killing the woman.
Jones and Carney were captured on video running into a home a few blocks away on the 700 block of Ritner Street, where police say they were apprehended.
The third suspect, they say, fled on a bike.
Jones and Carney are each charged with murder, as well as simple and aggravated assault, conspiracy and other offenses.
The victim's name has not been released. Investigators haven't determined a motive for the shooting.
