Work on Browning Road Bridge to close Al-Jo curve on I-295 south each night this week

NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — The Al-Jo curve on I-295 South will be closed nightly this week for construction.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation says starting 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, the curve will be shut down and detoured as part of the continuing work of the Direct Connect project. It will reopen each morning at 5.

The right lane on I-295 southbound will be closed just after Exit 28/Route 168, and the right lane on I-76 eastbound from Exit 1B to just past the Browning Road Bridge will close at 9 each night.

Construction will run through Friday, Nov. 22.

The right lane on Route 42 northbound will be closed after Exit 14B/Benigo Boulevard, and the Route 42 northbound Exit 1B to I-295 northbound will be closed and detoured from Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10 p.m. until Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 5 a.m.

Detours will be posted on roads for drivers to follow, but can also be found on NJDot’s website.
