PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man was attacked and beaten by a group of men after a fender-bender in Olney. His family is now questioning how police are handling the case.
Saintilus Metelus was driving on Roosevelt Boulevard Friday night when his car was rear-ended by a white Jeep. When he got out of his car, two men in the Jeep attacked him.
Metelus, a Haitian immigrant, suffered head trauma and cuts. The attackers stole his driver’s license and work visa and also tried to use his debit card.
“He said he’s not feeling well because he was coming from work, he was attacked, he was rear-ended,” family member Geraldine Lebrun, translating for him, told NBC10. “He said emotionally he is not OK at all.”
Metelus’ family said officers responded to the crime scene but did not file a report until the next day.
Philadelphia police have not responded to a request for comment.
