DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Officials say a long-term solution has been reached to keep two Crozer Health hospitals in Delaware County open and operational.
Attorney General Dave Sunday made the announcement Friday, saying the agreement was made with The Foundation for Delaware County — a nonprofit that was established in 2016 when Prospect Medical Holdings purchased Crozer-Keystone Health.
The plan to restructure Crozer Health, which operates Crozer Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital in Ridley, is still developing, but Sunday says The Foundation will be involved.
The system's restructuring will be managed under a consulting firm, and eventually under its permanent nonprofit owner.
The agreement comes after the health system's owner, Prospect Medical Holdings, filed for bankruptcy in January. The hospitals were slated to close last week.
“We look forward to updating the bankruptcy court — which has ultimate approval authority over plans for Crozer — at our next hearing,” Sunday said.
“There is much work to be done, but we will not stop fighting on behalf of Pennsylvanians.”
