PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware Gov. John Carney has some good news for businesses taking part in the state’s Relief Grant program.
Through an additional $26 million in CARES Act funding, all relief recipients will get a 20% bonus.
Hospitality businesses, like restaurants and bars, will receive an additional 30% bonus, bringing their total award to 50% of the value of their original grant.
This is the first time since the grant program began that every single recipient is being awarded extra money.
“Small businesses continue to make sacrifices that will help get us through this crisis and beat COVID-19. We owe them our support,” Carney said in a statement.
Around 3,000 Delaware businesses have taken advantage of the DE Relief Grant program. The deadline to apply was earlier this month.
Carney also announced an extra $10 million for not-for-profit art organizations in Delaware. That will cover 35% of those organizations’ operating expenses from last year, up to $300,000.
He said the money should help those organizations “survive the winter.”
