BROOKHAVEN, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — An immigration officer from Delaware County is accused by federal authorities of taking bribes to influence immigration cases for about a decade.

Authorities said 43-year-old Amara Dukuly of Brookhaven used his status as an immigration officer to promise people adjustments to their immigration status — such as a green card, work authorization documents, or visas — in exchange for money.

A complaint, filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, said Dukuly has solicited bribes since 2015, and alleges he did not even have the authority to do any of the things he’s accused of promising in the first place.

Dukuly allegedly used the money he received from bribes for his personal benefit.

The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are jointly investigating the case. Anyone with information regarding Dukuly or other government employees soliciting bribes is asked to call the Homeland Security Investigations tip line at 1-866-347-2423, and select prompt number two.
