PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating after someone shot into a car full of people in West Philadelphia, killing the driver and critically wounding a passenger.

It happened around 1 a.m. Friday near 61st and Market streets. Chief Inspector Scott Small said the whole incident was caught on police real-time crime cameras.

“You can clearly see the Buick that the victims were in just a minute before [it] pulled up and parked along Market Street. And then, another vehicle pulls up next to the parked vehicle,” he said. “You see someone get out of the driver’s side of that vehicle and then walk up to the Buick very close range and fire multiple shots.”

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was shot multiple times in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger, a 32-year-old woman, was shot in the face but is now in stable condition.

Two other women were in the back seat but were not injured.

Police said the shooter was last seen going east on Market Street in a red or burgundy four-door sedan.
