Giants fans were not happy

Apparently, the Philadelphia Eagles’ bandwagon is big enough to carry the Empire State Building.

Following the Philadelphia Eagles’ 31-7 dismantling of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, while Center City and the rest of Philadelphia lit up with celebration, New York's Empire State Building lit up green to celebrate the NFC Champions.

While the replies to that tweet were as savage as you’d expect – ranging from the usual slate of memes to “Theory: Maybe they had that color ready for the Jets and were tired of waiting” to “did y’all lose a bet?” to this gem…

…the fact is that perhaps those who make those decisions decided, one week after Philly waxed the Giants 38-7, to show solidarity to their NFC East brethren after they similarly clobbered San Francisco.

Maybe they were just taking a page out of the book of some of University City's landmark towers and buildings Sunday night.

It wasn't met fondly by Giants fans, though. An angry crowd actually stormed the Empire State Building in frustration, many proclaiming the building is “dead” to them because of the display.

Regardless, Kelly green looks good on you, New York.
