PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 16-year-old is facing murder charges for the shooting death of another teenager in Mayfair last week.

On July 3, Rasheid Lynch, 15, was found in a driveway near Revere and Robbins streets with gunshot wounds to his chest, shoulder and lower back. Police say his body was dumped there around 6 p.m.

About a week later, Jake Kelly Jr. turned himself in to police headquarters on murder, robbery and gun charges in connection with Lynch’s death.

Police say the two knew each other from school and met up along Revere Street that same night, but something went wrong. That’s when detectives said Kelly turned his gun on Lynch and shot him.

Both Kelly and Lynch are known to police, according to law enforcement sources.

Police say shootings among juveniles are down about 20% compared to this time last year.
