PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have charged a man they said attacked the clerk of a convenience store he was robbing last month in North Philadelphia.
Kashon Smith, 27, was arrested in Montgomery County on Thursday for allegedly pistol-whipping a man inside Zay’s Convenience Store at 29th Street and Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion on April 18 and firing a gun through the ceiling.
Smith, a violent convicted felon, now faces several charges, including aggravated assault, robbery, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and theft by unlawful taking.
He remains in jail on $350,000 bail — but also has a parole detainer because his arrest violates his parole.
