PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man has pleaded guilty to attacking the clerk of a convenience store he was robbing in North Philadelphia.
Kashon Smith, 27, was arrested in Montgomery County for allegedly pistol-whipping a man inside Zay’s Convenience Store at 29th Street and Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion on April 18 and firing a gun through the ceiling.
Smith, a violent convicted felon, pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors on Sept. 28 to aggravated assault, robbery and a firearms offense. In exchange, prosecutors dropped the remaining six charges, including making terroristic threats and theft.
He will be sentenced in December.
