A few weeks ago, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, said we may be done with the virus, but the virus is not done with us. Her words are simple but profound because she is taking into account the COVID fatigue the world is feeling.
A year into the pandemic, Americans are tired and waiting for a sense of normalcy. The important point is that we cannot get comfortable or give into a false sense of security that the worst of the pandemic is behind us.
The emergence of resistant strains that spread so much easier is making mass vaccination crucial. This is the time to dig our heels in and fight — even though it may be harder than ever.
