PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The number of COVID-19 cases have been climbing, and the next two weeks could lead to even higher numbers.
It was obvious the first day we learned about COVID-19 that if we gather together, the virus will spread and cases will increase.
Early on, it became quite apparent that wearing masks and social distancing could dramatically cut down spread. The debate over wearing masks has played out in the media. Evidence has been shared and choices have been made.
But, why are people traveling and continuing to gather in risky social settings despite the growing number of cases and deaths?
There are lots of reasons, but human nature, the core of our sense of socialization, is dependent on friends, family, love and support.
When you add the holidays to months of denial, it is the perfect storm. The kind of storm in which the virus thrives.
