PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man who was trying to jump-start his car was killed in a hit-and-run in Nicetown-Tioga early Monday morning. Police said they arrested the driver after she initially fled the scene.

It happened around 3:40 a.m. at Fox Street and Hunting Park Avenue. The driver of a disabled Ford Escape was receiving a jump-start from a woman in a Subaru Forester when a Honda Pilot struck the Ford.

The victim, identified as 60-year-old Roger Bailey, was pinned between his Ford and the Subaru. He died at the hospital.

Police said the offending driver ran off, but they were able to find and arrest her. The 26-year-old hasn’t been publicly identified yet.

Police spent a few hours investigating. An SUV with jumper cables still attached was towed away from the scene.

Fox Street and Hunting Park Avenue are open again, but there are still pieces of car debris scattered on the blood-stained pavement on the southbound side of Hunting Park Avenue, where the crash happened.
