PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was killed in a house fire in the Mayfair section of the city Tuesday night.

The row home is located at the intersection of Teesdale Street and Rowland Avenue. The neighborhood is close to Cottman Avenue and blocks away from Lincoln High School.

Neighbors said the property is broken up into three residences, one on each floor. Firefighters responded around 11:30 p.m. and found a man dead on the first floor. He was the only one in the unit.

Seven others in the building were forced out as crews worked to get the fire under control, which they were able to do in about 15 minutes.

Fire marshals spent hours going in and out of the house overnight, searching for clues and documenting the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
