PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was shot during a dispute over a parking spot in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia Monday night — the second time in a week that someone was shot because of parking in the city.

It was around 11 p.m. when police responded to a parking lot behind an apartment building on Jackson Street, near Howell Street.

Officers arrived and found a 28-year-old man who said he shot another man. He told police his gun was in his upstairs apartment.

The 31-year-old victim who had been shot in the leg had already been driven to a nearby fire station, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small. Firefighters took him to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The man who allegedly pulled the trigger was immediately detained.

“The shooter did remain on location … [and] is cooperating with police, and his weapon was recovered inside one of the apartments,” Small said.

The suspect is in police custody. Charges are pending.

The incident happened five days after a shooting over parking in Germantown led to the death of 52-year-old Jerry Fulton. The suspect, 26-year-old Neiko Nichols, was arrested and charged with murder and other offenses.
