PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It is estimated that eight out of 10 of us will have back pain at some point in our lives. The pain can last just a few hours or days, but for some, the pain can cause years of suffering and disability.
There are numerous treatments for back pain, ranging from medications to surgery. Physical therapy and overall fitness can also help.
Yoga that is targeted to relieve back pain can also help, but a new study from the Cleveland Clinic found that a third of back pain patients missed at least half of the in-person sessions, often because they were in too much pain to leave home.
When they introduced virtual yoga, attendance improved and the percentage of patients feeling better increased as well.
