PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Back in 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a program called Acute Hospital Care at Home, which allowed flexibility for hospitals to care for patients in their homes.
Early studies are suggesting that these programs reduce health care costs. There are also some early findings that suggest patients may be more satisfied with the care at home.
There are certain barriers. For instance, do physicians have an interest in this model, and do hospitals have strong home care and community programs?
It is not surprising that companies are now springing up to meet the challenge, and healthcare systems are hiring them to run the programs.
