PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It is safe to say that the vast majority of us would like to live longer, and we definitely would like to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

There are cities in Greece, Japan and Italy where a significant percentage of people live to 100. These are called "blue zones."

What sets them apart? For one thing, their diets are primarily plant-based foods. They don't completely eliminate red meat, but it is eaten in moderation. They also do not eat until they are full — they stop eating when they are about three-quarters full.

They also remain active — and remain active as they get older.

The advice is simple, but the key is consistency.
