NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Additional charges have been filed against former Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron.
New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin said a new seven-count indictment was recently filed, alleging Byron abused his official duties by requesting a job from a city attorney, then failing to report income earned and pay taxes from that job in 2017 and 2018.
Byron, who resigned from his position in Septemeber, is facing previous charges for allegedly abusing the state health benefits program, along with other city officials.
If convicted, he could face more than a decade in state prison.
