MAYFAIR (KYW Newsradio) — A long-simmering dispute between neighbors in Mayfair turned deadly Tuesday afternoon.
Police responded to a dispute and reports of gunshots on Montague Street, two blocks from a playground, just before noon.
Upon arrival, officers found 65-year-old Patricia Shinn with multiple gunshot wounds to the back. She was pronounced about 20 minutes later.
Police declared a barricade at 12:23 p.m. after they said the suspect, later identified as 64-year-old William Pulver, refused to leave his home. The barricade ended about an hour later and police arrested Pulver.
Maribel Ortiz, who lives on the same block as Shinn, told our partners at NBC10 Pulver and Sinn had issues for a few years. Ortiz described Sinn as a sweet person who always greeted children in the neighborhood.
"It hurts, you know, she was a neighbor. Neighbors are supposed to be like family. Me and the other neighbors were talking. This never happens, but you never know,” Ortiz said.
Pulver is charged with murder and gun offenses.
