NJ has counted COVID-19 deaths in single digits for 11 consecutive days

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey reported four deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday. It was the 11th consecutive day of single-digit death counts, including one day with zero deaths reported.

The Delta variant now accounts for about one-quarter of all COVID-19 infections in the state, according to health officials. And there are about 300 people hospitalized with the virus in New Jersey. Most of them have one thing in common other than their coronavirus infection: They have not been vaccinated.

Carryelle Lasher with the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services says doctors and nurses have been making public appearances to help answer questions and give people the information needed to make healthy choices.

"Our goal right now is to reach everyone and really give them the facts on how much the vaccine can help protect the health of those people and their families," she said.

Lasher says there are still plenty of options for people to get vaccinated, and there are resources throughout the region to help people get an appointment or find access to a specific brand of vaccine, such as the single-dose shot from Johnson & Johnson.
