PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The cousin of one of the women police believe may have been killed in the Olney home currently under investigation said he is furious with Philadelphia police.
Jonathan Halloran-Koren said his “family deserved better” than to have graphic details of what he believes is her strangulation made public in a news conference earlier this week.
Halloran-Koren told NewsNation that was the first time he heard specifics of what might have happened to his cousin, Nicole Fusaro, even though police met with the family hours before speaking to the media.
“That specific moment infuriated me, saddened me,” he said. “I wanted to jump through the TV and rip this guy’s throat out. ... It was never told to us. And to turn around and end up saying that in a press conference where there is no investigatory value to it whatsoever is just despicable and appalling and should never happen within a police department.”
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Halloran-Koren sent a letter to Mayor Cherelle Parker calling what police did “appalling.”
Fusaro was reported missing in 2018. Investigators did not use her name during the news conference.
A police spokesman told the Inquirer the department is doing all it can “to locate the missing women, and provide verified information to their families as responsibly and compassionately as possible.”
