PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney will be out of the office for a couple of days this week, due to a heart procedure.

His office says the mayor is scheduled to get treatment for a common heart arrhythmia called atrial fibrillation.

The CDC describes that as when a heart is beating irregularly, often either too slow or too fast.

According to the CDC, atrial fibrillation happens when the upper and lower chambers are not coordinated.

Kenney's office said he will receive a minimally-invasive procedure called an ablation, and he will receive anesthesia.

The minimally invasive treatment happens Tuesday, keeping the mayor out of the office until Thursday.
