This is the second fair housing survey DHCD has conducted. It builds on the last one, in 2016, to see both how things have progressed since then and what it's like now to be seeking housing in the city. Program manager Portia Egan says it looks at a number of factors.

"Feelings about their neighborhood, do they feel safe, are they connected to others in their community, are they working with others to do things in their community," she listed.

Egan said the results will be used to set policy and budget decisions, such as, "what programs and pilots are funded."

30,000 Philadelphians have been specifically invited to fill out the survey, but everyone is encouraged to participate.
