PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police announced the arrest of a second man they sought in the shooting and suspected robbery of a store clerk in Frankford over last summer.
Siddeeq Shakoor, 43, had been on the run from police since the shooting death of 37-year-old Kenneth Kennedy-McLeod back on July 11, 2024 at the Frankford Convenience Store, near the Frankford Transportation Center and the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Pratt Street.
Authorities say the shooting happened just after midnight and officers arrived to find Kennedy-McLeod shot in both shoulders, lying in a pool of blood and cash. No weapon was found at the scene, but spent shell casings from a 9mm firearm were discovered.
Police still believe robbery to be the motive for Kennedy-McLeod's slaying.
Five days after the shooting, police caught the first suspect, 37-year-old Kharee Simmons in West Philadelphia, but Shakoor remained on the loose.
Simmons was charged with murder, robbery and related offenses.
Upon his arrest on Jan. 8, Shakoor was also charged with murder, robbery and related offenses.
