PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Delaware County man has been charged with harassment for allegedly leaving “lewd” and threatening voicemails for U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean at her Glenside office.
According to officials, Montgomery County detectives were contacted by U.S. Capitol Police on Feb. 11 regarding more than a dozen harassing voice messages left for Dean. Between Feb. 10 and 18, officials say there were 19 messages total.
Police traced the phone number to 68-year-old Stephen Cilurso, of Aldan, Delaware County.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said the voicemails contained “vulgar, obscene and sexually explicit language” — as well as references to the Proud Boys — directed at Dean. Police say Cilurso also referenced Dean’s testimony during the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.
Cilurso’s last voicemail was left shortly after detectives told him to stop contacting Dean, police say.
The complaint says he told a Montgomery County detective he has leukemia and when he drinks his “mouth is my own worst enemy.” He told the detective he isn’t “out to harm anybody … I’m sorry for that. Can’t promise anything but I promise to do my best.”
Cilurso is charged with lewd communication harassment and repeated harassment. He was released on unsecured bail and is ordered not to contact the congresswoman.
It is not known if Cilurso has hired a lawyer.
