Woman sexually assaulted on SEPTA train in Upper Darby, police say

Officers arrested the suspect at 69th Street Station

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A suspect is in custody after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman on a SEPTA train.

Officials say they have Fiston Ngoy in custody. He is facing multiple charges including rape and sexual assault.

A SEPTA spokesperson said the incident happened Wednesday around 11 p.m. along the Market-Frankford Line.

According to a SEPTA statement, an employee saw the assault and called 911.

A transit police officer then found the suspect and victim aboard the train when it arrived at 69th Street Station. Ngoy was taken into custody.

"I have to take the train early in the morning, like 6:30 a.m., so I’m a bit worried now," a SEPTA rider said Friday.

"There were other people on the train who witnessed this horrific act, and it may have been stopped sooner if a rider called 911," the SEPTA statement said. They ask anyone seeing an emergency situation to immediately call 911.

SEPTA said the investigation has been turned over to the Upper Darby Township Police Special Victims Unit. They say anyone who saw the incident to call Upper Darby Township Police.
