MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A former Jenkintown urgent care employee has been sentenced to up to 10 years in state prison.

While employed as a tech at Carbon Health Urgent Care facilities in Jenkintown, Dresher and Philadelphia, Ramon Garcia posed as a nurse to watch women undress, give urine samples, and, in some cases, perform hands-on exams of intimate body parts.

“The defendant engaged in behavior that victimized a total of 13 women over the course of about five months, and he did so in a variety of ways, and he did it in a way that was predatory,” said Prosecutor Lauren Marvel.

Marvel says Garcia violated the women’s trust by posing as a medical professional. She credits their courage in coming forward.

“These women have displayed incredible bravery and courage, and what they have been through is horrific, and also they are resilient and strong, and they are going to take that resilience, that strength and bravery and compassion, and they are going to use it to make the world a better place,” she said.

One woman told the court she was finishing her studies to become a nurse when Garcia assaulted her. She said she’ll use her experience to ensure her patients are safe and are heard.

As she handed down the sentence, Montgomery County judge Wendy Rothstein called Garcia’s conduct “horrendous” and “predatory.” She said because these women had the courage to step up, they put a sexually violent predator behind bars for at least five years.

Garcia was sentenced to 5-to-10 years in state prison, followed by 5 years probation. Garcia is required to register with Megan’s List for the rest of his life.
