PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A store clerk in Southwest Philadelphia shot and killed a man who tried to rob him Wednesday night.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. near 58th Street and Whitby Avenue.
The store employee told police that an armed man, who was wearing a face mask and gloves, walked into the store and pointed a gun in his face.
He said the man went around the counter and started taking money out of the cash register. That's when the worker pulled out his own gun and fired several shots.
Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police say he was 28 years old.
The worker who shot him is cooperating with police. It's not clear if he will face any charges.
