PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting in Kensington on Sunday night. The victims were targeted by a masked gunman who got away, authorities said.
Around 8 p.m., police said a man fired at three men who were in front of a house on Hart Lane, near Jasper Street.
“The shell casings are spread out over about a 10- to 15-yard area. So it looks like the shooter may have begun shooting and continued shooting as he continued to approach the persons being targeted,” said Inspector D.F. Pace.
The victims ran about a block and a half to Kensington Avenue and Hart Lane, where they were met by police and then rushed to the hospital.
Two of the men were shot and taken to the hospital. A 24-year-old was hit several times and is in critical condition. The other victim, 22, was hit in the jaw and shoulder and is stable.
The other person they were with initially thought he had been shot, but it was determined at the hospital that he was injured while running away from the shooter, police said.
Police were not immediately sure of a motive. Authorities are collecting surveillance footage from the neighborhood as they continue to investigate.
