PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Montgomery County last summer.

Kaitlyn Dilemmo, 32, of Doylestown is facing charges including homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance for a crash on June 6, 2022 that killed 77-year-old Jacqueline Kovach of Philadelphia.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele says around 11:30 a.m. that day, Cheltenham Township police responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Cheltenham Avenue and North 5th Street.

He says Dilemmo was heading eastbound on Cheltenham Avenue when she sped through a red light, steered her car into the left turn lane and crossed over a median, into the westbound lane. She then drove in the opposite direction of traffic for about 90 feet and struck Kovach’s car on the driver’s side.

The impact left Kovach entrapped in her car. Medics then took her to a nearby hospital, listing her in critical condition. She died of injuries from the crash about two months later.

Steele said that Dilemmo was ejected from her car, onto the road. At the hospital she was taken to for treatment, a nurse who was packing Dilemmo’s personal property discovered seven bags of fentanyl stamped with “Fly High” and a pteranodon, a flying reptile. The nurse also found four empty baggies, which are believed to have contained fentanyl at one point.

Dilemmo tested positive for fentanyl following a urine test. Steele says an investigation into the crash shows the cause was “a combination of Dilemmo’s impairment, as well as the speed and the reckless and careless manner in which she operated her vehicle.”

Dilemmo was arraigned Friday, with bail set at $100,000, unsecured. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 25.
