PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — For drivers who frequently use the Scudder Falls Bridge connecting Bucks County to New Jersey, here's a rhyme to remember — on sunny days, expect delays. A construction project will tie up traffic throughout the month.
Crews are pouring concrete and reducing traffic to a single lane on the span going from Pennsylvania to New Jersey.
Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission spokesman Joe Donnelly said it could cause delays of 30 minutes or more during the morning rush.
"People need to be prepared if they plan on using that bridge that there may be backups and travel delays," warned Donnelly, "and this is probably going to occur through the month of June and possibly into July if there's more bad weather days."
He said the crews can't work in the rain, so any Tuesday through Friday that the sun is shining, you should anticipate single-lane restrictions and delays. Drivers can also take an alternate route, such as the Trenton-Morrisville bridge.
The project is on track to be completed by late summer or early fall, according to Donnelly.
