With the demand for at-home COVID-19 tests increasing due to the spread of the omicron variant, Amazon is placing limits on how many tests you can buy.
The company's limit is for their own branded at-home tests, according to a statement made to USA Today, and will allow people to buy a maximum of 10 tests at once. Amazon says there are inventory shortages due to the increased demand.
They join other retailers like Walgreens and CVS to limit the number of at-home tests someone can buy. Walgreens limits people to purchasing a maximum of four tests at once, and CVS placed their limit at six tests.
"We are working hard to secure additional COVID-19 test inventory available from our selling partners," Amazon said in the statement.
Third-party sellers and vendors can set their own purchase limits on tests, an Amazon spokesperson told CNBC.
The top-selling at-home test on Amazon, made by California-based iHeath Labs, was limited to five tests per purchase.
President Joe Biden said on Tuesday due to rising COVID cases that he plans to buy 500 million at-home tests that people can order online for free, with delivery beginning next month.
