Currently, 1.25 million Americans live with Type 1 diabetes, including 200,000 children. Approximately 40,000 new patients in the U.S. alone are diagnosed yearly. But despite these numbers, funding for diabetes research has declined. The Diabetes Research Connection brings early-career scientists and donors together to fund research aimed to prevent, cure and better care for those with T1D.
