Spent The Day At Downtown Disney

Going to the Disneyland Resort has always been something that we do almost on a monthly basis since our daughters were 3.  It has always been our place to getaway and have family time.  It's been like a second home to us and with 2020 being the way it is obviously the Disney fun has come to a halt.

The first day they closed we went and it felt so surreal and so we decided to visit this past Friday because it was the 65th birthday of Disneyland and we just needed a sense of "normalcy".

The resort has a lot of guidelines for our safety and I have to say they did an amazing job.  Hand sanitizer in many locations and hand washing stations.

When we first got there they shut down the parking lot because they reached capacity.  Parking is only at the Simba lot and its free!!  I didn't realize they d shut down the parking lot and got worried when we got there that we wouldn't be able to get in to be honest.  But, after driving around for a bit and taking a little break we were able to get into the parking lot after 30 minutes.

When you walk up with your mask you see this sign...

After a little walk they take the temperature of your whole group.

When you get past the temperature screening you go through security.  I would advise to not bring a bag/purse to get through security quicker.  Though the lines were not that long for us....you never know.

Right when you get there and one of your goals is do some shopping at the World Of Disney check in right away.  They have a virtual queue.  The sign up is past the store to the left.  You will find cast members standing there waiting to take your info to sign up.  There was no line when we got there which was nice.

After you signed in you will get a text messsage when you can get in line for the store.  It took us a little over an hour  and a half to get that message.  You also need to sign up to go into Marceline's Confectionary too so you can get some Disney treats and that sign in is in front of the store.  That wait for the text message was under 30 minutes.

You will be standing on these a lot as you wait to get into the stores.  There are cast members making sure that visitors are following the guidelines.

You can also walk to the area for the park entrances to take pics.  The music is still playing too which we loved.

One thing we noticed was how happy the cast members were to see us.  There were literally cast members everywhere saying hello, making sure we knew where to go, enforcing the guidelines, and talking to us.  One cast member while we were line told us that he is so happy that we took the time to come today and since my girls were wearing their Mickey graduation hats and pins he wished them congratulations and gave them college advice.

Not all the restaurants are open but there are enough that are. Our favorite Ralph Brennan's was not opened yes but we have already decided when it does open we are taking another trip up.

We spent about 5 and a half hours there eating, snacking, shopping, relaxing, and walking around...it was a great Disney day.  If you go and have questions don't hesitate to email me at sherry@kyxy.com or if you do go let me know how it went.
