Every day, twenty U.S. veterans and one active duty service member lose their lives to suicide. Post Traumatic Stress is a major problem for our men and women in uniform, and its effects last far and beyond the battlefield.
Meanwhile, this year alone, 1.2 million shelter dogs will be euthanized due to space, behavioral problems, or medical complications.
Shelter to Soldier is a non-profit trying to change the statistics for both our nation’s veterans and furry friends by adopting dogs from local shelters and training them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 combat veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences. Co-Founder and President of Shelter to Soldier Graham Bloem discusses the services they provide and their upcoming golf tournament fundraiser.
