One day after announcing the temporary closure of their Los Angeles stores, Apple has decided to shut down all 53 of their California retail locations.
The reason? COVID-19 cases continue to spike across the state. California has become the epicenter of the pandemic with cases passing the 1.8 million mark on Saturday, per Bloomberg.
Apple didn’t disclose when they would reopen. The company previously shuttered stores in March at the onset of the pandemic.
Apple is also closing locations across the U.S. including states like Tennessee, Utah, and Minnesota.
The news comes after the Bay Area was put under another stay-at-home order through early January 2021 at least. It's unclear when the California stores will reopen.
The closures put a dent in holiday shopping, however, customers may still pick up existing online orders and visit for previously scheduled in-store Genius appointments. Of course, you can still buy all those on-demand products online, but be warned: shipping may take longer than expected!
