It looks like the production company behind the Framing Britney Spears documentary that took a deep dive into pop star Britney Spears' career downfall and longstanding conservatorship battle is now setting its sights on Janet Jackson.

Left/Right TV, once again in conjunction with The New York Times Presents, is said to be reaching out to all of the people involved in Jackson's 2004 Super Bowl performance with Justin Timberlake, from dancers to stylists and make-up artists, to rehash the story of the pair's infamous "wardrobe malfunction."

Following their 2004 halftime finale performance of "Rock Your Body," during which Timberlake tore off a portion of Jackson's costume exposing one of her breasts adorned with a pastie, Janet had been slut-shamed and saw a decline in her career amid complaints and network fines, while Timberlake's popularity continued its climb into the stratosphere.

The tale draws similar parallels to Justin's fabricated role as a scorned lover after his break-up with Spears who faced considerable public condemnation and a decline in her career when they split. Within the Framing Britney Spears documentary, their relationship between 1998 and 2002 was re-examined showing Spears took the biggest hit, being portrayed as the bad guy in their relationship.

Fans were quick to point this similarity out after the Spears doc release, saying Justin had launched his career not only on the back of Britney, but Jackson as well. In the meantime, the stylist who was on hand during the notorious Super Bowl incident has come out saying the "malfunction" was anything but, and was planned as a way to upstage Britney's kiss with Madonna at the 2003 MTV VMAs.

For his part, Justin had heard the fan reactions and released a statement addressing both instances in which he has been accused, saying he “specifically want[ed] to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed." Timberlake added, “the industry is flawed. It sets men, especially white men, up for success. It's designed this way. As a man in a privileged position I have to be vocal about this ... I have not been perfect in navigating all of this throughout my career. I know this apology is a first step and doesn't absolve the past."

It is not yet known if Janet or Justin will be a part of the upcoming project from Left/Right TV, however, she already has her own two-night documentary in the can set for release in 2022 via Lifetime and A&E, so it's probably unlikely especially as Spears was never interviewed directly for her documentary and was ultimately "embarrassed" by what she did end up seeing.

“I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in… I cried for two weeks and well…. I still cry sometimes,” Spears admitted in March.
