Mel Gibson Was Hospitalized With COVID-19 in April

Mel Gibson tested positive for coronavirus earlier this year and had to be hospitalized.

“He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital,” Gibson’s rep told the Daily Telegraph.

“He was treated with the drug Remdesivir, while in the hospital, and has tested negative numerous times since then as well as positive for the antibodies.”

The 64-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles, reported People. They did not indicate which one.

No further information was given regarding his health status during the hospitalization. The "Passion of the Christ" actor has since made a full recovery, the publication noted.

Gibson is the latest celebrity to reveal they contracted the novel virus.

Other famous people who have disclosed their diagnosis include Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Pink, Andy Cohen, Tony Shaloub, Chris Cuomo, Prince Charles and Idris Elba.

On Thursday, the United States surpassed over 4 million cases of COVID-19. The grim milestone arrived just 15 days after the country reached 3 million cases.
