How slow has the free agent market been this offseason? One agent texted WEEI.com Saturday night to offer an uneasy reality.

"Everything moves inches at a time. I don't know what to say other than it feels more like November 12th than December 12th," the message said.

The agent went on to explain that the challenges that have come with owners approval due to the uncertain economic times has played a big part in the slowed pace.

But when it comes to one free agent, the timeline has less to do with money and more to do with certainty of health.

According to a major league source, free agent pitcher Corey Kluber's bullpen session for interested teams most likely won't be held until January.

ESPN's Buster Olney was first to report that the 34-year-old would be throwing for teams. Kluber currently working his way back a Grade 2 major teres strain in his right throwing shoulder, suffered in his first and only inning in 2020.

While Kluber does usually spend most of his offseasons in the Boston area (where is wife is from), he has been working out at Cressey Sports Performance in Jupiter, Fla. A location for the workout hasn't yet been determined. (Red Sox starter Tanner Houck has joined Kluber at the Florida facility.)

Sources confirm that the Red Sox have shown interest in the two-time Cy Young Award winner and are expected to be one of the teams keep tabs on the forthcoming particulars of pitcher's workout.
