Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond Water Crisis has entered Day 4, and officials say there is no definitive timeline for when clean water will be flowing at full capacity.
The City continues to face challenges in restoring clean water to residents. Earlier this week, Richmond Mayor Danny Avula said the boil water advisory could be lifted Wednesday – but now, it’s looking unlikely to end before Friday, Jan. 10.
As crews work to fix the issue, city leaders urge those with water service to conserve water in order to allow the city’s system to get back up to full pressure.
At this time, there is no definitive timeline for when the entire city will see normal flowing water. The boil water advisory is still in effect. Bottled water distribution sites are located around Richmond.
As of Thursday morning, officials said the reservoir filled to 17 feet (it holds 18 feet) and 8 zones are back online.
A city-wide update is scheduled for noon on Thursday. It can be watched here.
This comes after Richmond's water treatment plant malfunctioned as a result of a winter storm-related power outage on Monday, Jan. 6.
