Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Taking a page from Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin's (R) platform, Governor Ralph Northam is proposing to eliminate the grocery tax. Northam's Administration says the Governor first supported the idea in 2017.
Northam made the proposal as part of his outgoing budget. The Democrat is also proposing tax rebates that would equal $250 for individuals and $500 for married couples.
Northam has been unveiling numerous proposals over the last few weeks. His term ends January 15th. The outgoing Governor, given Virginia's budget cycle, gets to propose a two-year budget as he is getting ready to leave office.
