Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Animal League (RAL) will be hosting its first-ever “rescue roundup” on Saturday. Organizers say the aim of the event is to help find homes for animals in need.

Shelters that partner with RAL will bring dogs to Richmond Animal League with the aim of getting them into adoptive homes. RAL says it partners with over 30 shelters across the Commonwealth and pulls pets from other shelters when they are faced with making difficult decisions regarding kennel space.

The shelter says it’s expecting pets from Colonial Heights Animal Control, Dinwiddie County Animal Control, Henrico County Police Animal Shelter, Hopewell Animal Services, and more.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the lawn right next to the organization’s shelter, located at 11401 International Drive in Richmond.

“Don't miss out on this paw-some opportunity to meet the folks working at our local animal control agencies and maybe bring home a new furry friend,” organizers said.
